So You Think You Can Write 2015 (#SYTYCW15) is BACK!!!

So You Think You Can Write 2015 is back and in full swing. This year they are partnered with Wattpad. You have to register with Wattpad to submit your story. The neat thing about the process this year is that you submit one chapter at a time. The complete manuscript to be submitted in full by September 21, 2015. Promotion of your chapters is essential as you have fellow followers checking out your story and giving feedback/encouragement. Make sure the manuscript is complete. The first chapter and pitch are what the judges check out during the first round.

Good luck to all who enter! Here’s the link:

Romance Writers of America writing classes

Romance Writers of America (AKA ‘RWA’) always has writing courses going on. You need to be a paid member to take advantage of these great opportunities. If you’re a romance writer I would highly recommended joining if you haven’t already. Right now I am taking a self-editing class and next month is Pitch Perfect which runs June 23-27. Cost for the class is $10.00. What a great deal to improve one’s writing skills.

Have a great day! 🙂

Pitch Slam – no luck this time

Well, I didn’t advance to the agent stage in #Pitch Slam, but I learned so much about my 35 word pitch and my first 250 words. I would like to make a big shout out to the creators, bloggers, editors and agents who all made #Pitch Slam such a great success. I can’t wait until next time.

The next contest #RT Slap is open to YA (young adult), NA (new adult) and A (adult) romance. No info on word count for the pitch but I will keep everyone posted. The contest is on Monday, May 5, 2014 8 am EST to 8 pm EST.

Be brave and submit. It’s so much fun.

Remember the writing world is very subjective. If you aren’t selected to advance, it doesn’t mean that you’re a terrible writer and should stop writing forever. It means your story didn’t click for that particular agent/editor on that specific day. So keep trying. Someone out there will LOVE what you wrote — you just need to get your work out there and never stop trying.

I made my word count!

April has come and gone and I am happy to say I reached my goal word count of 30,000. I still have a 20,000 word count to finish by the end of May for my grand total of 50,000.

I have to say it is a bit harder to keep the momentum going, but I am determined to get it done! Perhaps taking a week off wasn’t such a good idea….

I Choose You – OakTara Anthology

I Choose You (new release anthology)

Hello everyone!!! It’s with a happy heart that I send the link to the I CHOOSE YOU anthology that one of my romance short stories has been published in with OakTara Publishing.

It has been a wonderful journey with OakTara so far, and I must say the stories in this anthology are quite heartfelt and spirit lifting. I have made it my bedtime storybook. The story lengths are perfect for a quick read and I recommend it with the highest praise.

Please head to Amazon.com or to the OakTara Publishing website for details on how to purchase this wonderful collection of romantic short stories.

I am honoured to be amongst such talented writers.
